What is the biggest drive that the built in IDE controller can address?

Hi!

It can handle all drives available today and for some time in the future (I don't know the exact limit, but it's well into the PetaByte area).

Edit: Just looked it up again, the limit is about 144 PetaByte= (roughly) 144000000GigaByte.

To clarify, I think the main controller can handle the large drives but the second controller (for the slots under the optical drives) is more limited. Search apple for the pdf with the complete details.

I have read repeatedly that even the second controller supports the big drives, though it's not usual for an ATA/66 controller. Haven't tried it myself, though.
