hi,
i upgraded the ram today......easy to open and install ram
hard to put case back on
the metal prong sticking out things wouldnt allow me to have flush finish when putting case on.
when bending them.....i broke one of them......and totally bent 2 right back
i did get a flush finish
should i worry about the bent hinges and the one broken one?
thanks

You might want to worry if you have to send the mini in for warranty work. Other than that I can't see where you would run into a problem.

just run it fully for 30 mins:
dvi / vga / headphone / usb / firewire / power / ram / hdd / optical drive all stable
how do i test my new ram? put it through its paces?
hopefully it stays that way

Run the hardware test disc to see if there are any problems, and give it some hard usage yourself on all parts of the machine.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

It shouldn't affect your performance. Although, if you have to send it in for warranty work, Apple will likely take one look at the case damage and blame any possibile manufacturer defects on you.

performance seems fine after this mishap
imovie worked great with increase of ram
garageband was fine with loads of things going on
everything else was speedier
the broken hinges etc don't seem to have caused any lasting damage....i am thinking of puting insulation tape around the hinge to aviod any contact with other parts around the area - as the power button firewire internals seem to be around that area.....
hopefully the mac stays healthy internally as the hinges dont seem to be of any relevance as the lid is firmly closed flush.
thanks for replies
no damage externally though lol just the inside
thanks,

I have the same problem with the metal pins not allowing the mini to fit together properly. I don't want to break any of them.
Did you ever figure out how to get those metal pins back in place?
Any sugguestions?

I bent mine as well. But I looked at the ones that weren't bent and using hemostats (like needle nose pliers) bent them all back into the correct shape. I've opened it twice since then and now I'm more carefull reassembling it.

What is the correct shape?
Thanks, DoFa. I'll try that.

That cover is a bitch to put back on....
and I thought taking it off would be hard....
You have to use a little force - from the port end then use the putty knife to the front.
Still, I almost got me hammer!!!

Thanks for the help.
I think I will leave the mini alone for now...
I don't want to break anything and the current condition seems to only be sore on the eyes.
I may get a bit more dust inside, but I think I will fix things if(when) I need to open it again.
