I have a job. It's my day off, and I am working freelance right now, not that it's any of your business.

Hello to all here at the forum. This is my first official post here, but I've had my mac for about a year now. My financial aid/loan will be coming in later this month. My first upgrade will be RAM from 512 to 2 gigs, next will be an external HD. I have been looking at LaCie, G-Drive, Mercury Elite, and Western Digital (all either 180 - 200 gigs). I prefer firewire to usb. Plus I will be toting it back and forth from school to the house so portability and durability will be an issue in my purchase.

My question is which would be good for the PB running photoshopCS(heavy) and some other iLife apps? Any and all info/experiences from all would be greatly appreciated. thanks
And you expect to have people PAY you to upgrade their computers. Ok...

In all fairness budster, and not to rag on you... but I administer a Windows network of a few hundred workstations. I know a lot about PC hardware and networking, but I don't know everything, and I don't mind asking for help if I need it.

If he's never used an external firewire drive in that way before, there's nothing wrong with asking for advice. Personal opinions are usually a lot better than product reviews anyway.
