I don't want to get into politics, but I can't hold my tongue. Sofamystic, that's the stupidest, most repugnant wallpaper I have ever seen. Wake up my brother. The "Revolution" is going to take you next...

sorry if it causes offence, but it was a political statement. this is maybe the wrong place to make a political statement, but i have the picture on my desktop and was just sharing a screenshot. for more info on the pictures, all who are interested can check out- http://www.forkscrew.com/main.html - the designers saw it as a statement on freedom. I was in the areas when the conflict began and have seen the effects on the innocents and it is something that takes up my thoughts and troubles me. that is me, and i expect no one to share my opinions or feelings and i do not want to enter a dialogue on politics here. peace.

The Strokes are amazing.

I'd also like to know what program/widget you're using to display the song/album art there.

Hmm, just a question:

I've seen the icons somewhere before but, where can I get those icons that people have in their docks. They're application icons that just have a four-letter shortform, like "FIND" for Finder and "PHSH" for Photoshop. I can't remember where I saw them.

You say all this when you knew the outcome of posting a picture with gun and bazooka toating people, all in all the picture doesnt make sense and the only sense it makes is in the negativity, it looks like you are sponsering terrorism and I don't know why you would do that. Look at your screen shot again and tell me I am wrong,

Nonsense, on several levels. First of all, to say that the Iraqis who fight back are terrorists is pure garbage, and says a lot about the brainwashing of the public in certain countries. Secondly, the picture of the guy being tortured was one of the most horrible to be seen in years.

His image is a good for highlighting the hypocrisy in modern mainstream media.

To support the Iraqi freedom fighters is damn well not supporting so-called terrorists. In fact you aligning them with that is exactly the issue we face today in the media, - the branding of terrorism.

thanks, sanity assassin. couldn't have said it better myself. and you say that it looks like i am sponsoring terrorism, Hi I'm Mike. that i do not- neither state sponsored, nor otherwise. it's a satire of actual events and the media's handling of it- and the way the western world reacts to images- in this case the ipod ads and the images fighting and torture during the iraqi invasion. i am british so maybe that's one thing that allows me to satirize the media and the world in which i live in to point out hypocrisies and double standards that exist there. i'd suggest you read the text on the link i provided- your reaction is typical of the western world's reaction today, i am sad to say- straight away mention of sponsoring terrorism (very in- word at the moment) - not that it is wrong- don't misunderstand me please. enough said. as i said before- this forum is not a place to discuss political matters. my sincerest apologies to all who are offended by the images.

"SizzlingKeys" looks cool, and "iMote" too, but both are a bad copy of Synergy and believe me, it is the real deal, if you want an application without bugs that works the best for you try this one... the original iTune music display software for Mac OS X. it Rocks!!!

And sofamysticc, this is not a thread to post political statements.

Had you simply posted a screenshot with said desktops, not much would have been said. But you had to get all dramatic about it.

I suggest you take further steps in posting such things in the Political forum.

I beg to differ. I've used them all, but I keep coming back to ByteController. Synergy's great and all, but the floater is badly designed. Let me explain. I want it small. I can set it small, but ONLY one line. If I go one step higher, it jumps to 98 pixels high! I want it to show at all times, but NOT THAT BIG! And if I choose the smallest, I can't see the icon or read the text! It's not customizable enough! The floater is the only thing that would make me use it full time. But since they can't even get it right, (Unless I am missing something here) then back to ByteController which is FREE and doesn't require me to pay for it. I'd just assume keep iTunes in mini-mode in the corner and use the hotkeys. I don't even use the menu-bar controls.

I don't want to get into an argument over which iTunes display controller app is the best, but they all kinda suck. I'd make a Konfabulator Widget if it didn't relaunch iTunes due to a Tiger bug. But for now, I'm stuck with mediocrity.

Hot keys first. Must be F11, F12 and F13 with NO modifiers (Both Byte and Synergy allow this) and hopefully textual display of the current track and possibly the album art. (Synergy would be perfect if its floater weren't poorly designed with no customization. Jumping from 30 pixels to 100 pixels high is plain stupid. Even Sizzle had a nicer floater with better scaling. Growl would be perfect if it could have a floater that stayed and got updated instead of either a disappearing one or one that stacks but doesn't go away. Here's hoping Konfabulator 2.1 fixes the iTunes Relaunch Race.)

The search continues.

speaking of itunes controllers,
i've been using m-beat

i use it "invisibly"; just a scrolling window on the menubar (song&artist), altho u can have a pop-up screen, etc etc.

i use control-space to play/pause, control-forward arrow to go to next song, control-up arrow to increase volume, and so on.

invisible, and easy.

just mentioning...

the icons are part of an ongoing project. eventually i hope to have about 150 of them for system replacement as well some apps.

i hope to have them all done by the end of this month and will gladly give them away, along with a.psd file so folks can add their own.

The next evolution of the Pinup Calendar (Now featuring fully customizable themes.) prominently displayed in the corner. Check my thread for more info.
I am trying something new. The Dock is hidden at all times. I can access it by moving the mouse to the bottom. Or I can press a mouse button and show a bunch of DragThing docks full of apps and folders and websites. Keeps it clean.
The song playing on iTunes is too damn short. It needs to be longer. Here me, Koji Kondo??

The latest version of Synergy allows you to display floaters through Growl.

The latest version of Growl allows full customization of notifications using CSS.

I already have a custom made CSS theme for Growl and GrowlTunes. I don't see any option in Synergy (Which I redownloaded again last night. Still no Growl option that I can see.) The problem is Growl's themes system doesn't continually update the shadow so my theme (Which has no background, just text) has a terrible shadow ghost when the song changes and the thing is still on screen.

Not that it matters as for one thing, I can't find any option to A) make the theme click-through and B) make the theme not disappear. So forget Growl for iTunes. I just use it for Mail and the network.

Synergy would be better if I could customize the color and look of the floater. (I want white shadowed text with no background and no clickability) Also, sizes between the one line mode and the 100 pixel high next step up mode.

Doesn't matter because if Konfabulator 2.1 fixes the iTunes relaunching, both GrowlTunes and ByteController are going bye-bye.

You could try submitting a feature request to the author - that's what I did for Growl support.
