FCE cashes when exporting mpeg2

I recently finished the first Final Cut Express project that I've done with this computer (I used to use it on a G4 with no problems) and every time I attempt to export the FCE project as an mpeg2 for burning to DVD, FCE crashes. Anybody have any idea what's causing this or what can be done to fix it? Thanks in advance!
I'm running a G5 iMac with 2.0 GB of facory installed RAM and the old FCE 1.0 just so you know.

Well... It's being a while that I'm using Final Cut.
I've never used Final Cut Express, but maybe I can help.
So...
I don't remember to have had this sort of problem before.
That may be caused for a bad setting of your MPEG 2 export.
Try to have a look at the settings of the MPEG 2 you are using.
Take care when setting up the Max Bit Rate and the Average Bit Rate.
When too high you may have problems.
I normally use this settings:
Max: 8.0
Average: 6.8
Also: Two pass VBR
Motion estimation: Best
If you have no different result, try to low the bit rates, max and average.
I wanna remember you that this is only a possibility.
Take a look and see if it works.

I seem to have answered my own question. Quicktim 7 no longer supports export to mpeg2. 
While I find this to be SUPER lame, my only course of action seems to be to pony up the cash for another DVD authoring program that can transfer Quicktime files into mpeg2. So it looks like Apple's looking to make some more money off me. Yay. Fantastic. Thanks Apple.

no, not out of the box.- if DVDSP is installed + Compressor, some plug-ins are installed...
export from FCE as dv stream, use iDVD (it does the encoding/conversion), or use Compressor, same here.....

That was before QT7 was released though. All of my exporting is routed through Compressor 2 now...very reliable and stable.
