Boy what a difference a Election can make.

It looks like Rummy and half the top military is in a bad spot.

Just look at the defendant list, it's huge.

I wonder how long it will be before George and Dick are charged with War Crimes? At the rate it's going; not long.

You reap what you sow.
The Religious Right is neither.

So basically, Rummy and Co are not allowed to travel to Europe or outside the US... there is plenty to do in the lower 48, he wont stress about it.

Eh, have you even bothered to read the article? It's not the left or any politicians at all that are seeking the filing of a war-crime-case against top-cadres of the US-administration.

It were iraqis that have asked a german court to pursue their charges against the high US-cadres because of the Abu-Ghraib-torturing.

They already did the same in 2004, but the german court refused then to pursue because a) Rumsfeld was still in political power and therefore legally immune, and b) because the court argued that the US would pursue the allegations on their own.

Now, Rumsfeld is not in power any more, and the US has proven not to be able and not willing to investigate against higher cadres regarding the Abu-Ghraib-torture-scandal, and so the german court saw enough justification to pursue the allegations of the iraqis.

Of course this is nonsense. And it points out the folly of the US submitting to any international court which might have any jurisdiction over our actions. Imagine if there were only a frigging international court ruling that could make the global Caliphate a reality!

In a way, though, IF this action were able to force the Bush administration to share with the sillies around the world the rationale supporting our foreign policies I've been presenting here the past couple of weeks maybe the world would at least bitch at us more intelligently.

You are just a sexist and racist.

I don't really believe that. I was just trying it on for size. When some of the posters here accuse others of being xenophobic or Islamophobes it always makes me wonder how the accusers can say these things in good faith.

My conclusion, you have to really believe the accusation or else you are really seriously hating that person.

And if you hate others that strongly you must hate yourself to some degree.

Somoia was down right criminal in how it was handled.
We were mowing down women and children in the streets.
Yet no one seems to remember that.
All men are created equal, but what they do after that point puts them on a sliding scale.

Some have suggested that Clinton, Clark, and Albright should be wanted for war crimes too. These things never go anywhere.

- U.S. bombing of Radio Television Serbia, killing 16 media workers
- bombing of the Nis marketplace
- the targeting of petrochemical plants, causing toxic chemical waste to pour into the Danube River.
- bombing of Albanian refugees by the U.S.
- deliberate targeting of a civilian passenger train
- the bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade
- funding and arming the Kosovo Liberation Army
- U.S. interference in the Yugoslav elections in 2000

I'm perfectly able to accept that blacks can be racist against blacks. I've heard some of the most vitriolic of sentiments about "Uncle Toms" and the like when regarding any black individual who happens to have a (R) after their name. Now, to be clear I'm not accusing you of this, but being black does not mean you are somehow above being racist.

i do not hate condi, but i feel she needs to be held accountable for her actions or lack of.

heh. I think I heard it was a group of constitutional lawyers from the US who instigated it. Probably ACLU aligned or something.

However, it would be hard to say that teh Coalition of the Willing have won this war. They certainly won the invasion, but victory was so fleeting as to make the distinction worth making.

Regardless, (and accepted, these kinds of lawsuits rarely go anywhere) it's probably fair to say that there are, for the first time, leaders in the US and the UK who are going to have to be very careful about where they fly to, once out of office.

Granted, this probably won't bother Rumsflid and Bush too much. But it will be interesting to see how Blair continues his messianic bid to save the world, without being able to visit various European capitals.

OT: Go Dems!! only gotta come up with some ideas now!

oh, someone please do Blair, go on, please, please get him

make him so he can't travel, that would be great

who knows what's gonna come out about this gov't in the next few years - Tories with young boys on Clapham common will pale in comparison. If the legal system in the UK isn't compromised (ha!) Blair should be in deep, deep water over lots of things, current Met Police investigations included.

Re-read marden's post. Seriously. I'll post a quote here so you don't have to look for it:

Besides, your cartoon could VERY easily be the arguing technique of a rabid liberal too. "Someone disagrees with me. They must be: stupid, racist, sexist, xenophobic, nationalistic, uninformed and a poopy head."

Both sides do it. If you don't get that, wake up.

Of course! Condi was given away by the blacks along with Colin Powell during the 2004 Racial Draft. They covered it on Chappelle's Show.

So now it's reverse racism. Or something like that.

However, I think the CIA agents who were conducting these extraordinary renditions (= kidnappings) would be well-advised not to visit Europe any time soon.

I just did a search and you have brought up or mentioned the term, "racial draft" five times more than any other single poster.

Congrats.

Or Rumsfeld could give the ICC the middle finger while sippin' on maytays on a tropical beach, while surfing the internet checkin' out his stock portfolio, all after two rounds of golf.

Or he could fake his own death like Tupac. Dont test his 'gangsta'

yeah...he wasn't expecting insistence like that from ITN!

Maybe from Channel 4, but it was good to see someone else push him a bit. It's not as if they could ban ITN from the press conferences, he should have persisted with it.

Anyone who thinks there was all of this that happened in Iraq, the fact of the invasion and afterwards, due to greed or hegemony or the desire to own Iraq or because of only miscalculation or evil motives you are wrong.

You take responsibility for things you've done wrong.

The lack of success is the only thing the US must take responsibility for in this case.

And your insinuation is that we never own up to the other things we've done, however few they have been.

There are SOME Americans who would have us take responsibility for earthquakes and tsunami and when the sun doesn't shine that day and everything in between. For those posters I suggest they sit down and have a cookie and be sure to bite it. That should make you feel better about things.

Excuse me, but what do pictures of Cookies have to do with a rational discussion of politics by adults? Nothing.

If you are not an adult or cannot handle acting your age if you are one, don't let the door hit your arse on the way out because you are ruining the forum for the rest of us.

I also have to say that "web 2.0" has been has lost all meaning through over use. It used to refer to technologies such as AJAX. Do you see anyone using AJAX in their posts?
