Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.

Ugh, what a terrible idea. It's bad enough that countries like Denmark or Sweden have to be in a union with Greece (or even Turkey in the future).
Big businesses love cheap labour and globalization, to the point where they are willing to destroy nations in order to make higher profits.

It's great how conservatives are coming out against corporations and the free market nowadays.

Yeah, way back in the day the EEC was sold to us as a free market agreement too. It's a touch more than that these days. Don't be fooled - this has nothing to do with trade.

I have no problem with free trade agreements, but its the marriage between free trade and social union which I don't like, and the problem is that it gets a lot of support from both the far right (business elite) as well as many on the left (ardent multiculturalists who for some reason want to change the demographics of North America).

Somehow, I think there is just a little more to this that Lou is letting on…
I don't think things are quite as 'outrageous' as he claims. I'd need more info… and it sure wasn't coming out of that segment.

Good God.
But hey, it's all good that business and goverment are selling out Americans, because some numbskulls think the whole issue of wide open borders is just about giving them a deal on lettuce.
Maybe people will start to wake up before the inevitable day they find they've traded places with Mexico and China, but somehow I doubt it.

That happened 230 years ago. The rest has been pretty much cause-and-effect since then.

You are in Soviet Russia. It is dark. Grue is likely to be eaten by YOU!

Yes, but since every party wants us to be in the EU, we have no choice. Nobody dares offer a referendum because "No" would win by a long way.
The last time we were offered a vote on it, I was more worried whether my Action Man would fit in my Tonka. And that was a vote on a free-trade block (the EEC), not social and legal integration (the EU).

Why don't you become active in your favorite party and do something about it?
If not, then the EU contracts are as democratic as any other law: it's been ratified by your parliament and has thus become national law.
If you were to ask people whether this or that tax should be increased, you'd also most likely get a no

Already sorted. This thread is a heads-up to those in the US who'd prefer that it remain the US (rather than become the NAU).

History doesn't play in reverse. It'll happen sooner or later. Making money is more important than party affiliation. Take my word for it.

That really only applies to sociopaths, drawn to power as they are. Remove power from the equation, and the sociopath just mutters to himself.

More free trade sounds good to me. NAFTA has worked out great for Canada.
Lou Dobbs in engaging in some childish fear-mongering in that clip. Sad.
Economic liberalism is a growing trend. Someday soon, people, goods, and money will travel without pointless gov't red-tape.
So what if Chinese goods are trucked to Canada by Mexican workers? As long as those vehicles meet our safety standards and the Canadian taxpayer isn't paying for their medical bills, I don't care.

Doofy, I don't know what kind of history they teach on that little island but I will mention one thing, 'Manifest Destiny'.
Americans believe it is their god-given right to all of North America.
Canada stayed allies with Britain to keep Americans at bay.
Mexico wasn't that lucky and the U.S. just took and took and took.
Mexico was too chicken to invade the U.S from the south during the second world war because they thought they would lose what was left.
Canadians would never go for it so it'll never happen. Canada would be better off with Europe.
Mexico and the U.S. may not have a choice. There just is no border control.

Atomic Rooster, paranoid much? Manifest Destiny was replaced by the short-lived age of American Imperialism, which didn't ring too well with most Americans, so it faded to some sort of subversive, half-imperialism thing, but hardly the threat that you make it out to be.
Mexico and the U.S. may not have a choice. There just is no border control.
And in a world of free trade, there are no borders. All hail the United World Government (coming in 2050).

There's no need. Despite his claims to the contrary, there already is a party which reflects Doofy's views on this issue.
UK Independence Party Official website (UKIP)
They got 2.3% of the vote in the last general election.

Yeah. They look more like a pressure group, not a party, from where I'm sitting.

Regardless of where you're sitting, they stood in 497 seats at the last election, so they are a political party.

Nobody asked you whether you want to be in the United Kingdom, or the Commonwealth.
Until I see you complaining about that, you're just blowing hot air.
