just got my new 12inch PowerBook and it has been great what a beautiful little computer

My keyboard seems to be screwed up the quotation and comma key come out like this when you press it �������������������������������
The Question Mark and Slash key does the same thing ����������������
The comma and arrow keys are my quotations '"""

I did a fresh install when I got it and all the updates. 10.2.4 twice to see if I could eliminate this
What do I do

Please help first mac

return it, get another one. you shouldn't have to go through so much trouble trying to get your new PB12 to work the way it should.

Maybe they sent you a non-US keyboard version?
Are those free-ranged animal crackers?

Make sure the language settings for the keyboard are set to whatever is correct for your region...For example the french keyboard setting makes a lot of the keys have accents since accents are frequently used in French, where as they're almost non-existant in english.

To check go into Sys prefs>International>input menu

Your keyboard may be defective. Check your language settings, and if that doesn't help, take it in for service or replacement.

indeed, check no key is blocked or sdomething like it and otherwise return it

and remember: if it was a winddows, this behaviour would be pretty normal. I have a HP hich at random times starts interpreting a @ as an " etc.
