Coulda seen this one a-comin'. I can't find my stupid little white AppleTV remote and now I'm really stuck. Been trying to program my remaining third-party remotes to use the ATV with no luck. Nobody has a published code, and the learning feature is not getting it done. My kids are getting ready to throw me overboard. Help!!

What about using the apple tv application on an iPhone or iPod Touch?

I lost mine as well. Thankfully, I had another one that came with my iMac. Now I have to use them for both.

Yes, it does.

But with the Logitech, you can't do any commands that require pressing of TWO buttons at the same time. E.g. resetting the ATV won't work with Logitech. Bummer.

Funny you should mention that. I had a remote that came with my iMac, too. But I have a two-year-old and I myself am notorious for losing things. Recipe for disaster. Can't afford to go buy an iPod Touch, although pitching as a solution for the lost remote might convince my wife, it's a bag budgetary decision to make right now.

Now of course my daughter wants to watch my downloads of Bob the Builder in the worst way, and I can't do it.

The aTV Remote app only provides access to video and music already on the AppleTV or in your iTunes folder. You can't purchase or rent content and you can't use it to control YouTube, the picture viewer or settings.

I would just buy a new Apple Remote. They're not too expensive.

Do they come in ten-packs? Also, will my AppleTV recognize it, or do I have to do some kind of unpair/pairing process?

If it's like the rest of my Macs, it'll just work.

Rather amusing to stand in the middle of the room and sleep a load of them.

Yeah, it was doing that stuff to both my MBP and ATV. I found it disruptive so I linked my ATV to that remote and disabled IR on my MBP (never used it or Front Row anyway).

You might.

Google "ATV remote pairing", it'll give you the right instructions.
