On a semi-related note, I take it something serious happened to chuckit?

I always thought that being a mod on the MacNN forums was a bit like the British Secret Service, where people were asked to be a mod instead of the post being applied for.
What a letdown.

I nominate gulmatan as mod for the iPod, iPhone, and iPad forum, as well as for the Applications forum (specifically, an iTunes subforum should be created just for him to mod).

We don't know what happened to Chuckit - he just sort of vanished. I hope it wasn't something serious. Naturally, that's the first thing that comes to mind. But he probably hasn't died in a nuclear accident.

What a letdown.
We do internal nominations too. Historically, we tend to get more involved Mods from those who volunteered, vs those we suckered persuaded to join.

I was beginning to get worried but I noticed that his XBOX was used (though not when I was on), so unless it was a family member, I assume he's ok.

I nominate myself for Applications, as it's part of my default workspace and I'm obsessed with the latest and greatest Applications. Plus, it would be nice to point all those people looking for Runescape info into one thread.

They asked for moderators, not forum jesters.
I nominate Simon. Pretty fair minded, and he does terrific spam cleanup as is. Oisin would be a good choice, too.

I nominate Simon and mduell for any tech related boards. They both have great knowledge.
Stogieman would make a good Gaming mod.
I sent Glenn some info about me volunteering a while back as well. Looking at the list, I would fit best in Gaming and Marketplace.

I'll nominate CharlesS.
CharlesS' posts are usually very good. He has a reasonable, level-headed approach to most topics. And I always appreciate his technical insight. As somebody who actually writes code for OS X he's not arm-chairing, he actually knows what he's talking about.

A brutal dictatorship has to begin somewhere.
Oisín would be a good choice too, an intelligent fellow who appears to be fair about things.

On a related note, did you just go from Moderator Emeritus back to Moderator lately? Or was this acid worth every penny?

Well, it felt weird coming back into town without the terror-striking presence of my former position. It just took some of the stride out of my step, ya know? So, yeah... as of two days ago I have my ban-hammer back.

Thanks for the vote of confidence; but there are really none of the subforums in need of moderators that I would be even halfway competent to moderate. iPa/ods, iPhones, and iPhone Apps? I’m clueless. Gaming and developing? I’m even cluelesser. Applications and GUI? A complete noob compared to so many others who’d do a far better job. Marketplace? Haven’t even gone in there in years …
The only subforums I’d consider myself a possible mod for would be the Art & Graphic Design one (which already has an excellent mod and doesn’t need a second one), or the Lounge (which already has several excellent mods—and which I don’t really want to mod, anyway).
If you do make a linguistics subforum, though, I’d be happy to mod that.

If I wanted a court jester I would have nominated myself, but then I'd probably have to give up my court jester career here, and that wouldn't be fun.
