I have some 'spare' RAM from my 17 rev.a PowerBook that I would like to give to a friend that has just bought the G5 iMac. I would love to know if the RAM is OK for the G5 iMac. Both are DDR 184 pins, PowerBook is DDR2300 333MHz, iMacs one is DDR3200 400MHz.

Thanks in advance.

The powerbook 17" uses 200 pin PC2700 SO-DIMM

The iMac uses 184 pin PC3200 DIMM

So to answer your question, no, they are not compatible, neither in speed nor in form factor.

Oh, my fault, I can not understand where I get the PB RAM being 168 pins.

Thanks for your input.
