Can Carbon Copy Cloner resume cloning where it ended? I am trying to recover my old harddisk and transfer all the data to an external drive.

I copied all the data except for the last 2GB (of 40 GB), then my harddrive crashed (again).

This happened before and I assumed that CCC would start off where it ended, however it didn't; it started copying everything all over again...

How can I make sure that when I start CCC the next time it won't start transfering ALL the data again, but only the latest 2 GB?

Thanks

Is there another tool I can use to sync the two drives, without having to copy it all over again?

Maybe a command-line utility? My harddrive crashes after too long heavy usage, so if I have to start all over again, it won't work and the same will happen again...

CCC is using a command-line "ditto" to perform it's function; however, why copy the whole HD? Just copy over your User folder and Applications if desired and work from there...

I know ccc is using psync, however I was hoping another one was an option.

Copying only my programs and my users dirs might be an option, but this is 2/3 of my total space... So I'll probably have the same problem.

Can't you just turn on the option of copying only new/revised files? That's how I always back up, instead of waiting for the whole drive to copy every time.

Under preferences: Synchronize source to target

This will go through all the files (still takes a little bit of time) comparing the two drives and just copies what is different.

Eventually it worked! Installed my new harddrive now. Really glad since I have more space, this hd is much more quite now and the computer seems much faster and responsive
