A friend has a Graphite 466MHz clamshell iBook. The laptop will not work with a battery. Serveral known good ones have been tried. It works just fine with the A/C adapter. Any ideas what is causing this?

There's a board in the front left of the machine that controls charging the battery. This connects to the logic board. It's likely one of these two parts.

Hi there I know its a couple of years after this message...but I am having the same problem and need a little more info. I recently purchased a 466 graphite clamshell off of ebay. Its an awesome little guy and it works like a charm. the battery would only charge to 38% so i ordered a new one....when it arrived it wouldn't charge at all and eventually turned into the little x in the battery indicator. So I figured its a dead one...I put my old one back in and all of a sudden it stopped and only shows 0%. the system profiler shows the battery is there but that it is not charging. Help!!! I tried the command option OF reset thing ....zapped my pram....reset the power manager...all to no avail....so do you think its the board??? Is that hard to fix???? How do i know its not my ac adaptor because it works great when plugged in????? Your help is greatly appreciated!!!!
