hmmmm....
amico (extension) to organize the apple menu,
look mom! (extension) for no-control click contextural menus.
window monkey for menu lists of open apps & folders (better than the finder's "window" menu).
in the OS, a second command key for my pismo.
no "alias" after aliases!
no alias badge.
prestissimo (control panel) for a better application switcher.
opcolour lite (ext) so no white boxes around icon text.
for a start... ;-)

& everything working (!) in 9.2.2

And that is what you all are: inverted Nothings...with potential" (Sun Ra)

vsurfer - decrease the sig image size please...

< 140*40, < 10K, no animation.

The ultimate MacOS 9 addon: Macsbug.

And of course, BeHierarchic.

Delete all useless Extensions, Control Panels, System files, etc, according to the situation of my Mac.

For example, I am using a StyleWriter 2400 printer only, so I remove all other printer drivers/extensions. Since my PM4400 is a slow machine, so I remove all OpenGL extensions.

finderpop to take care of contextual menus, favourite applications, setting file types, etc. and wapp pro to organize all my open windows into a hierarchical menu. USBoverdrive is really useful too.

replacing the keyboard layout menu's american flag icon for the basic english layout is another favourite. (yes, there is a U in that word.)

I use the Function Keys to assign apps to the keyboard. If I want to check mail I simply hit F6. You can assign apps and control panels (like Software Update). Sadly, this function is lacking in OS X. There are shareware programs like HotApp, but Apple should have included this funcion in OS X. </rant>

For starters, I'd recommend:
  • DragThing (http://www.dragthing.com)Great customizable launcher, plus keyboard shortcuts.
    Default Folder (www.stclairsoft.com/DefaultFolder) Par excellence!
Desktop Screenshots (http://www.warker.com/deskshots.html) Puts screenshots right on the desktop. Once you have it, you won't live without it.
Kaleidoscope (http://www.kaleidoscope.net) Hint: Avoid the ugly schemes; stick with simple ones but use the other features to modify look and feel.
