Has it been able to boot from DiskWarrior before? Can other machines still boot from the CD? Can the machine still boot from other CDs?

Permissions are completely unrelated to booting from CDs.

It's possible that the iMac is a more recent vintage than your copy of DiskWarrior. You might be able to get a new DiskWarrior boot CD from the publisher for a nominal cost which will work with that iMac.

However, there could be any number of reasons that the iMac won't boot from the CD. Assuming that the iMac has Firewire built-in and you have another Mac with Firewire built-in, you can boot the iMac in Firewire Target Disk Mode and connect it to your other Mac. You can then run DiskWarrior without having to boot from the CD. If you need more explicit instructions for this, send me a private message and I'll explain in whatever detail you need.

Best wishes,
John H
