I want to replace the DVD drive in my old G4 with a CD-R/RW. Has anyone here attempted this?
I would think it should work with Toast.

Yeah, probably this thread will be closed soon but in answer to your question...I put a Sony Expressa CRX160E/A1 in my G4 450 DP. The entire process took less than 5-minutes and I'd burned my first CD within 15-minutes. No drivers or software (outside of iTunes/Disk Burner) needed to burn music CDs. I recommend Toast for burning all else. Keep in mind OS X doesn't having burning capacity yet so you'll need at least 9.1 to do it unless you employ one of many hacks floating around.
http://www.xlr8yourmac.com has an excellent walk-through on this entire process.

Not a problem. I'll move to the PowerMac forum.
