I sort of like this theme, but. The 'baby Blue' for the text isn't so good (perhaps a stronger colour in the Graphite prefs option?), and the 'Bookmarks bar' and Tabs in Safari look 'bad' it's because of the embossed thing Apple has done with it.
I am looking forward to the next version (this is a 1.0 version after all) .

Lots of potential though, I love the subtle gradient in the menu hi-light and the buttons.

I'd love to try this theme, looks great.

I don't have APE on my system and I don't want it, either.
Was there a thread somewhere to turn guiKits into dltas or Extras.rsrc?

Yes but it requires using APE.

Yes, I've just found it.

I'd have to install APE and ShapeShifter, so I could transform the guiKit,
to be able to use it without APE and SS. Ironic, really. Meh.

It'd be nice if ThemePark or any other app could do that by itself.
I'd pay for that. It would allow me to keep using themes if developers
stop making dltas and release only guiKits. Looks like IZA will be doing that. Sigh.

You wouldn't be able to use it as a DLTA anyway, because you'd have black text on a black background everywhere if you tried it.
This theme wouldn't be possible without ShapeShifter.

Oh god, I f**cking love Daisuke Yamashita. I loved FT-500, I loved Kowloon (Still my favourite light theme), and now this. This is just b-e-a-utiful. I love the blue text. It's so cool we can do this now.

We really, really need a menu extras mod, though. Like Takashi made for DSX and Shinobi. (To turn the right hand corner text and menu icons blue).

Anyone know how to do this???

Need a good icon set to go with it too. I don't seem to have anything that fits. Any ideas?

Ah.. we lucked out with this one though... since the text is blue there are MANY nice blue iconsets available that will match very nicely.

How about Tux'n'Tosh icons? I think they look good with the dark themes. Sorry, I don't have a link for you.

They are missing something... And they don't have the blue hi-lights.

It would be perfectly possible without ShapeShifter.

One of the themes I use often now is DSX, which has white text
over black backgrounds everywhere and it's just perfect.

And I only use the extras.rsrc file, I don't need any app or APE.

DSX is the exception because IZA crafted it to fit in with OS X previous limitations. That's why all buttons have a white area to display the black text. You still can't read text on inactive cocoa titlebars for example.
The only reason we are seeing this increase of black themes is because of ShapeShifter's possibility of changing text colors globally.
You would have a hard time using this theme without SS.
I'm also curious why some people seem to hate APE so much, have you tried it? Did it cause that much problems for you? Or is it just that you don't trust it?

Yes, I did. Eight months on three of my computers.
I have paid for several haxies, too.
MightyMouse, WindowShade, Silk, Xounds.
I got rid of it all as I found better alternatives,
no use for them or they caused problems in my daily work.

Before ShapeShifter, I could change the look of my
interface without problems, to my liking.

Now, if the themes are only guiKits, I MUST install
APE if I want to use them. Good for the majority,
the safety, blah, blah.

Let's not start the debate again.
We all know I've lost it beforehand.

Some of us spend all day long messing with system
files and have done so for a couple decades,
and would like to keep at it.

But I'll shut up now, and all will be well. Sigh.

Peace.

love the theme, but i can't handle it until i can get rid of all the 100% white that remains in the interface. too bright compared to the rest -- i hope thats the kind of stuff bbx is waiting for to be added.

1. The APE preferences panel icon looks like crap.
2. The SS preferences panel icon isn't much better.
3. Unthemeable menu bar clock.
4. Unthemeable login panel.
5. Doesn't work on all of my Macs for some reason.

Some of us don't need all the bells and whistles that SS can provide.
I just need square corners, no stripes, and recessed bottons to make the OS X interface perfect.
Thanks Max for smoothstripes!

first of all, all the reasons to dislike something and you choose the system prefs icon? Not a big deal?

menu bar clock uses the theme colors with SS 1.1

If anyone has a modded version that uses white or light grey text, I would be verrry happy if they could send it to me; I know there was a lot of talk about how people would prefer it white. And if we could get Daisuke's permission, we could post it here. The blue text is the only thing stopping me from switching over.

i made one but the left side menus lost their effect and the highlight effect didnt carry through...i could send it right now if you dont wanna wait (also has the safari / etched text fixes), assuming that its not like "bad" (insult to the theme developer) for me to do that...

I subbed out the blue for an off-white color.

my AIM id is ajwinda, send me a message.

the thing is this...

the text resource for stuff like safari url input window and the text resource for the push buttons in the theme are one and the same...therefore white cannot be used...but i could be wrong...i wuz once.

maybe SS 1.1 fixes this...i dunno.

i changed it to white, theres a couple little things that need to be fixed up to have white text and have it visable everywhere...but its very useable as is. The only problem ive really noticed is the text on the ichat buttons isnt really visable / looks odd and i noticed white text in some applications...by and large its useable though...

I love this theme. It's beautiful, and probably the only theme I will use at least until Omega finally arrives. The only things are:

It needs updating to use the improvements of SS1.1 (I'm sure it will be updated very soon).

I wish the menus were less opaque. I do like some level of transparency to them. (I wish I knew how to do this myself!)

Well too bad you don't like APE, cuz we've got a cool new theme and you don't... You can blame Panther, not SS for making guiKits needed for themes like this one.

The main SS problem with text is some white boxes will have the lighter text color, and that makes it less usable, or not if it's white text. Once that's fixed there will be no limits to dark themes really.
