Woe is me!

My drive wouldn't spin today. Can't boot. I've got 36G of stuff at risk.

The dealer checked the connector to the motherboard which seems OK. Utilities can't find the drive either. So it's off to Apple for further examination. Hope I get it back before next year. Hope they don't lose the data.

I assume this is the famous IBM silent drive. Have any others failed without warning? I understand that the first gen G4 Powerbook drives could fail if the computer was handled in certain ways.

Sorry to hear that =( The HD on my TiG4 500 failed a day after I bought it. Had barely used it, simply installed OSX and dev tools. It seems that laptop HDs fail fairly frequently, and IBM ones too I've noticed.
