Does anyone know if Apple will put the WWDC Panther preview in the developer mailing this year? I know they did not with 10.2 last year but you would expect them to want people to recompile their apps for the 64bit PPC 970 as soon as possible. Maybe we'll just get an updated set of developer tools instead.

Doubt it, you'll have to be at WWDC to get the preview.

Can't wait until we get these 'new and improved' dev tools...come on Apple easy toolbar creation etc....

Typically there's been an ADC mailing a few weeks after WWDC containing an updated seed for everybody, not just Seed Key holders.

I can testify to that:/ And I won't be able to afford a 64-bit machine for ages, either.

Well, for one, they did confirm that WWDC would bring new and updated DevTools. The Apple employee even went further. He said the current dev. tools looked like an unfinished product but that it was about to change at WWDC. This email is somewhere in the cocoa-dev archives.

Project Builder and Interface Builder looks like the classical example of a version 1.0 product. Great concepts but a lot of missing functionality.

I'll just mention that PB isn't finished, and everyone in the tools group here is intensely aware of that. Come to the Developer conference, and I think you'll like what you see ;-)

The FAQ at developer.apple.com says that Select and Premiere devs will get Panther Preview CDs in the mail.

Is this true? Where does it say this? I am a student ADC Member (paid my $99 fee that is). I just assumed I would have to pay for it.

Thanks,
Chris

http://developer.apple.com/students/ADC_Students.pdf says:

Students receive up-to-date Mac OS system software upon commercial release.

Yeah I can confirm this too. I've been sent 10.1.something, 10.2.0 and 10.2.3 since I paid for a student account. However don't expect to get anything before (or even on) the release data. It can take up to a month for Apple to send the release. Makes you wonder if they actually want students updating their apps for the new OS release. Still ADC student account is one excellent buy if you're interested in developing stuff.

Thanks. I guess I won't be buying it on release day. Just wait for it in the mail. I did receive 10.2.3 in the mail shortly after joining the student ADC. But was not sure about a major upgrade like 10.3.

Thanks,
Chris
