Any ideas anyone? It's been like this for about a week, I have to use Firefox to check Gmail now. I just get 'Loading' in a red box in the top right of the screen then nothing else. Tried it on 3 different Macs, same thing on all of them.

I use Firefox over Safari anyway... but just for fun I went and tried out Safari and my gmail worked just peachy from there.

I understand the concept of using a web mail interface while traveling and not at your computer but why not use the pop option in gmail and let Mail.app handle it while at your home?

Try clearing the cache and any cookies for Google in Safari to see if that helps. I don't use Safari either, but just did a quick check and it's working without problems for me also.

After some digging around it was a .css file I was using to block ads, as soon as I disabled that all went back to normal. Thanks guys!

You can add the following to your ad-blocking CSS file to get GMail working again:
IFRAME[SRC*="mail.google.com"] { display: inline ! important }
