I'm working on a Mac OS X version of a game I am writing with someone else using SDL. The graphics on the Mac version (which is basically a recompile) are incredibly slow compared to on Windows. Is the Mac version of SDL just extremely poorly implemented or am I doing something wrong? Can anyone recommend a way of making SDL run at a reasonable speed? We already do page flipping but the Mac speed is nearly unacceptable. Its very smooth at high resolutions on a 400MHz Celeron running WinXP! Hope I don't have to rewrite with OpenGL or Quartz but this now looks likely...
