Actually, I'm 13, & I'm going to use my PowerBook for video editing (iMovie, not any Final Cut stuff), and since I shoot in DV widescreen, I thougt it would be great to get a large widescreen display. I might watch DVD's on it (all my DVD's are Widescreen.) It's also a toy. LOL. Hope I cleared that up.

i do but am unable to access the internet through it as it wont accept my modem driver.

the res is good, nice and crisp, am loving it and the extra speed over my old 1.5ghz 15 is icing.

he probably needs it to burn dvds. i burn ~2 dvds a day on my 15" powerbook and im 17 years old.

Here is my 3-day old 15-inch PowerBook. I used the Apple website to give you an idea of the pixel density. I must say it is very nice, it is like having a 17" PowerBook in a 15" case. The screen is very crisp and slightly brighter than previous generations, in my opinion.

it's the only one i could find that specifically mentioned it was water-resistant... I'd hate to see my powerbook ruined if I get caught out in the rain.

I used a Nikon D70 Digital SLR with a 28-70mm f/2.8 lens. But I didn't bother to mess with the white balance.

Sad story (must be mentioned) this computer is now dead. Only 4 days old, something is wrong with the power management on the logic board, it doesn't run off of battery. It is being returned to Apple. Hopefully my replacement will come within a week.

A very messy shot (moving in January so will redo the setup then. Added a 19" monitor that I use with the Mac mini (behind the monitor with a few external drives). the PB sits on an iCurve turned around so I can use it and the mini at the same time.

When the missus uses the mini, I move to the couch or use an XT-Stand on the dining room table with an external keyboard and my Logitech Trackman for Wowing.

They're pretty nice. I like the long cord they come with so I can leave the iPod on my desk at work and move around a bit without getting yanked on by my headphone cord.

Just built a new desk. Went a bit overkill on the size but its really nice for working and allows me to keep my Powerbook out all the time.

And my awful old desk.

Your photos show what's truly wrong with the PowerBook — displays. PowerBook displays are biased blue. And it's quite clear from that picture.

Well I wouldn't use that image do determine it though. Between my crappy camera, the orange walls in the room influencing the lighting, and the fact that I think I had the flash going in that picture it's not going to be 100% true.

Of course. But my in-person observations of the screen in all sorts of lighting, a lot of the PowerBooks Apple makes have displays that are biased blue. It's cooler in color temperature. Right now, I am typing this on my new iMac G5 17-inch display that is right on with its white balance; not a casting of blue that I have seen on the PowerBooks since the 2nd or 3rd revision of the Titanium. A lot of people aren't bothered by this. It annoys me. I think the PowerBook screen should be white balanced, like the desktop displays.

BTW, I have seen this on some PC notebook displays. But most of the new PC notebooks are free from this.

Designed and built myself. Total of three sheets of half inch MDF, a bunch of arberite for the top and edges, a pedestal of drawers from IKEA, and a hell of a lot of struggling with math trying to figure out the angles in the nook. I ultimately broke down and just made a template out of a large sheet of heavy stock paper. The angles turned out perfectly. It fits great in the nook. I'm just waiting to find some decent desk grommets to put some holes in it to route cables.

Yes, it's an X50 with a case from Sena running SPB.

This is adjustable. The ColorSync engineers have control of the vertical and the horizontal.

It's easy - just head to the Display Control Panel (Pane, whatever) and adjust the Color Profile. Want to see it like a PeeCee? Go right to Generic RGB. You WILL see the difference as the screen becomes whiter. It adjusts live as you arrow through the profiles. Neat eh?

Just FYI, it's called "Front Row" not "frontview". I'm running it on my 17" PowerBook 1.33 and it works very well, but the DVD doesn't work.
