I've had 8-10 hard resets in the 48 hours since I installed Snow Leopard and want to start afresh but be able to keep my home folder and apps. I have a Time Machine backup.

I'm wondering, is it possible to reinstall all my apps and files onto a fresh install of 10.6 from Time Machine? I'm thinking this may remove the point of a fresh install, as wouldn't a Time Machine restore put back all the crap that's messing up my system, as well as my home folder and apps?

Any tips/info appreciated.

You can install a fresh 10.6 and then use /Applications/Utilities/Migration Assistant to copy back user accounts, apps, etc.

IIRC you can launch MA right from the install DVD (Utilities menu).

I've had to re-install Leopard (10.5) a couple of times in the last year. Not sure if the SL installer does it the same, but Leopard allows you to select Migration Assistant during the installation process itself.
