For example, can you easily revert to a non-beta release if needed?
Thanks in advance!

Non-beta release? Huh? NightShift v1.2.1 has been flawless for me.

Crashes sometimes here as well. It is faster than old webkit safari so that ain't no biggie.

NightShift does not alter your standard copy of Safari. Rather, it downloads a nightly to a separate folder. You can run the regular version and a nightly at the same time. As far as stability of the builds is concerned, I have had no issues whatsoever with the nightly I downloaded recently. (Btw, this is the wrong forum for software discussion.)

This error pops up if the text fields for "Disk Image" and "Application" names in the preferences panel are empty. Click on Get URL and select the WebKit version you want. This will also fill in the proper disk and app names.

1.) It's not a new version of Safari you are downloading, it's a newer developing version of Webkit (the brains behinds the scenes) that you are getting.
2.) Gmail is currently broken in this development phase of Webkit.

I found webkit to be slightly buggy. It tends to crash pretty frequently. Plus, it's not playing nice with pithhelmet or autofill.

I find webkit, the last two weeks since I first started downloading nightlies, to be extremely buggy. It crashes all the time, and on the same webpages. Speedwise, it is sometimes noticeable faster than current Safari, but there is a long way to go before major crash-bugs are ironed out and it becomes usable to me.

I guess that what you really like is to wait until a Software Update of Safari, since that's what you will get when those conditions meet

Well, I did not make my self clear. I enjoy keeping an eye on the progress being done, but for most people, that is more or less all webkit is good for right now. It is far to unstable for daily use at this point in the development.
I sure look forward to next version of Safari, integrating on the new webkit, when it is ready for release to production enviroments. I will hit the Software Update button as eagerly as everyone else when this happens

Nightshift and the nightly webcore-builds work just fine here - however Saft doesn't support them, so I'll be sticking to 2.0.1 (412.5) for now.
