Hey,
I am still posting about the inability of Internet Connect to drop my connection after x-minutes idle. It is definitely related to OSX, because under OS9 there is no such problem.
I have dial-up connection. All other network processes are dead. No auto-updates. No iChat. When I've connected to my ISP with no other applications open, there is a pulse that my connection is receiving every 30 seconds, and this, I thought was the culprit.
But, booting in OS9, a similar pulse exists, and still Remote Access disonnects as so commanded.
Could someone out there with a dial-up take 5 minutes and test this for me?
I have spoken to 2 AppleCare techs, and a "product specialist," and nothing has been resolved.
Thanks.

Not sure if these would do it, but what do you have turned on in the Sharing Control Panel? Also, I've found that time syncronization on OS9 to casue the computer to try to dialup. This also might be the case under OSX.

Thanks, but Sharing is off all around. And, as far as Time Sync goes, is there such an option in OSX? I have the Use Network Time Server box deselected.
Thanks.

Have you looked at the settings in
System Preferences -> Network -> Modem -> PPP ->PPP options -> Disconnect when idle.
Also on the modem tag tick the "remind me before disconnecting me" box (To select first tick the incoming calls box)
This might help with debugging.
Cheers and goodluck
