I've been looking into a new monitor and was just wondering what the difference between the two was and whether or not the price difference was worth it.

Thanks for the help. - David

Ultrasharps tend to be brighter with a higher contrast ratio. They have more features and usually have USB ports built-in. They have a faster response time - good for gaming and watching DVDs - and use a DVI connection for higher-quality (digital) video (but come with a DVI-to-VGA adapter if you don't have DVI video inputs).

The video quality will be better on an Ultrasharp, but if you don't have the money to spend on one, a regular Dell LCD will serve you just fine. Unless you're gaming, you don't need a high-end display.
Sell or send me your vintage Mac things if you don't want them.

Ultrasharp is more of a product line than a feature.
The "regular" (ExxxFP/ExxxWFP) displays only have one video input (VGA on the older ones, DVI on the newer ones), marginally lower nominal specs (brightness, contrast, response time, etc), and a fixed stand.
The ultrasharp line (xxxxFP/xxxxWFP) has multiple video inputs (2-5 of: VGA, DVI, Svideo, composite, component), a USB hub and sometimes a card reader, marginally higher nominal specs, and a stand with 4 degrees of freedom.

The E-series offers 160 degree viewing angle vs. 178 degree on the ultrasharp series.
