Is this the case for others? There may be a config issue, but Im trying to sort that out.

This has been happening for me. It is very slow right now. Your new servers seem like a downgrade so far.

Ok, I made some more tweaks (including fixing registration). Please let me know if you still see performance issues.

m.

Update: the server may be *too* fast and we had forgot to adjust the MYSQL parameters to allow for tons of extra connections, I have increased the number of available simultaneous connects on gg by about 50 percent. Let's hope the problem was that simple.

I haven't seen the slowness for the last 20 minutes or so, that is a good sign.

Me neither. Thanks Rickey. Next problem: encoding. If this is all good for the next day. We'll do that update (v3.6.2) on Thurs/Friday. The more feedback the better!

Will the default templates need to be changed to take advantage of any new features in v3.6.2 from what we have now?

yeah, sometimes it seems slow, sometimes fast. not sure if it's related to the new server or someting else (all signs point to the new server).

Could it have something to do with light vs heavy traffic?

Well the new server allowed many, many more connections to the db. I had previously allowed persistent connections, but have disabled them now. I am hoping that this does the trick. I haven't seen the slowness, but again, all reports are encouraged!

Cool, i think that may have done the trick. Please report slowness. If no reports, then we can move to the upgrade later this week!

It's been sporadically slow for me.

More curious is I've gotten the first technical error email has been sent staff posts in a loooong time.

The database server was offline for about 2-3 min for repair of a database. Not sure if that contributed to the error.

Curious, though, on the slowness. Time? Task?

Just finished hte upgrade. Demon has already updated many of the (important) templates. I will post more about the update in the morning. We've been working on this for about 6 hours now and I'm tired.

m.

ps i will now turn my energies later this week to track down the Safari encoding issue. But please, no questions before this weekend =)
