Apple offers new Power Mac G4 rebates
May 10 - 16:25 ETApple today quietly kicked off a new promotion that offers customers who purchase a Power Mac G4 800MHz a US$200 mail-in rebate and those who purchase a 933MHz or dual-1GHz configuration receive a $300 mail-in rebate. No additional purchase is necessary and the promotion may be combined with Apple's other promotions, including its Power Mac and Display promotion. Details of the offer, as well as the rebate, will be made available on the Web on Monday; purchases made from today through July 7 are eligible.

Just saw it myself. Sounds like they are starting the inventory clearance of Powermacs prior to MWNY 02 early. The only question now whether the new Powermacs are G4 or G5 based. I'm intereseted to see what type of server hardware Apple is announcing on Monday. Hope it is DDR based.

Not very likely to be G5....most bets seem to be for faster G4 with revised mboard...ddr ram etc. And yes, the server specs may offer some good "clues" as to what we may see, which might explain the rebate starting now.....
