Hehe... after work i decided to go into my local reseller and see if they had any in stock. they did...before i knew it i was shelling out AUD$450(with student discount) for a 20GB 4G iPod. It's friggin beautiful. i have the original 10GB iPod, which is great except for the fact that it's full. the new 20GB seems like it's 1/2 the thickness of the original iPod.... really cool. A friend of mine baught the 10GB off me for AUD$200(sold it for cheap cause hes one of my friends). So im pretty pleased with the fact that im only down $250 fro a brand new pod. hehe....oh and im absolutely loving the interface (the new wheel...thats what i was waiting fro before i upgraded)
Cheers

There is a sticker slapped over the screen of new iPods that says "don't steal music". He was making a joke.

I just bought the new 20 GB too. It's my first iPod.
I went looking for a case and FutureShop only had stuff for the old ones. Time for some online shopping.

Weird, I had no idea.
Apple's getting a little preachy these days, huh?

Not really. It's been there since the original 5Gb iPod (which I'm still making due with). It follows Steve's general "Bad Karma" deal, and I think it offers some degree of semi-protection against the RIAA.

Ill post pics soon.... 'dont steal music' was always on the iPod wrapper(i have a gen 1 iPod as well). A cool addition is on the CD/manual case...it's got the word 'Enjoy'on it .
Kinda annoyed cause the thing seems to be getting a couple of scratches already.
Cheers

Cool. Congrats on the new iPod. I really like the new design and feel. I think it's the best one yet.

Yep, those are instant. Simply looking at it, or breathing may cause a few more scratches...

First thing you should do: go to a store that sells general computer crap and get some screen protectors. They're like cling film for the LCD screen. I picked up a 10-pack that were originally designed for some old Palm unit, $3.42 after taxes with the list price around $10. Used one for the iPod, one for my digital camera, just cut 'em to size.
Oh, and the cases for the 4G should be arriving soon from the major manufacturers, I recommend getting one. Enjoy your new toy! My 2G 10gigger's still going strong.

Congrats on the new iPod. Yes, the face scratches easily. I used to baby mine, but then realized its meant to be used. Use it, have fun with it, the less you worry about how it looks, the more you'll get into using it as its meant to be used. (Kinda the same with how I treated my powerbook like the mona lisa for a year until it got a scratch...)

FutureShop is crap, I hope you didn't buy their "warranty" if you bought the iPod there.

Heh, that place would've got the sale of my sister's iBook, iPod Mini and my iPod if they'd properly answer their email. They ignored my question about accepting the education discount and we just ordered from Apple online.
Anyway, I never thought about them for iPod cases.

I'll buy a new iPod when they get to about 140 gigs. I wonder how long it will take until that happens? In the mean time, I have an iPod Mini given to me by my company, and my old reliable 20 gig 2nd generation.

Congrats, dude! Yeah, the iPod is very much worth it. I use my 30GB 3G iPod everywhere I go...car, subway...walking to car, walking to subway.
Definately get a case. I got mine pretty scratched up before I got it. Though luckily I had a second chance when it was replaced.

that is surprising....i have dealt with mostlymac numerous times (even though i am on the other side of the country) and they have always answered my queries promptly and given about the best deal i could get anywhere (in canada)...i would not hesitate for a moment to recommend them to anyone.
and just to stay on topic - i have a dual 2.5 on order from them and if i can ever make up my mind between the 20 and 40gb iPod i'll be adding one to my order....
