C2D MBPs can come with a 160 GB perpendicular HD. For a 17" MBP, a 160 GB comes as a standard. For a 15" MBP, there is an option to upgrade to 160 GB over the default 120 GB Hd.
Would you think a new 160 GB is as reliable as a 120 GB unit? MBP does not have the upgradable HD bay (unlike MB) and I would like to reduce the chance of HD replacement as much as possible by picking the right HD.

Yes. They've been on the market for months with no more problems than any other drive.

How about the 200GB drive? Although the rotation speed is slower, isn't it true that it might be as fast or only slightly slower than the 5400rpm?

i just ordered one with the 160 gig drive. It should be faster than the 120 and its a little bigger. The 200 will be slower than the 160, as its the same density but slower rotation.

I just ordered my new 15" MBP C2D with the 160 gig drive, I thought it was the best value.

I wish Apple make a 160 GB HD a standard option for a 15" model. So far, I have to go with BTO to get a 160 GB with a 15". But, if I decide to go with a 17", then, I can get it at the store (spec-wise, the 17" model is right on the bull's eye, except for a slightly larger size compared to a 15").
It seems many C2D MBPs are still in transit to the customers. After I can read various user reviews, I would make a decision. One of the good benefits for choosing the standard issue is the relatively easy exchange at the Apple Store if the machine is defective.
