Hi all, I have a bunch of MPEG-2 files I downloaded off of my old ReplayTV. Since I am no longer a ReplayTV subscriber I am using my PowerBook to play back these files.

I am currently using VLC for playback since it lets me have the controls on one screen while the video plays back in full screen on the TV. However the quality of playback in Quicktime is better. I know in Quicktime 7 there will be a method for accessing the controls while in full screen but I am wondering if in Quicktime 6 there is a way to write a script to make Quicktime Player skip ahead 10 seconds, 30 seconds, etc. so I can move around these files in full screen mode.

I bet there is, I'm terrible with applescript and wouldn't know where to tell you to start with that. But in the mean time, the program I write (link below) might be good for you. It has a separate window with the controls, and customizable buttons for skipping, fast forward, that kind of stuff. Also let me know if you have a clever idea related to that and I'll try to incorporate it. Open source, too.

Thanks for the link, I actually looked there before posting here, so while those scripts are interesting, they don't do anything related to what I want to do.

Uncle Skeleton, I'll be sure to check out your app.

Thanks all,

Can you edit the "Step Thru Front Movie - This script will move incrementally through the front movie with one second delays between each movement" script to something you could use?
