I did not know it was so easy or even possible to get isync to work with my v710. I don't even own (nor did this process require) a usb cable for my v710. I am so happy now that i can sync my contacts and calendar appts thru bluetooth.
here's the process:
***
1. Make sure your phone has the latest firmware (this is VERY important, visit your cell phone provider to ensure this before performing the following hack, an older version of the firmware caused HUGE sync problems with isync by adding -'s instead of spaces etc etc etc)
2. Change the existing V710 entry in /Applications: iSync.app: Contents: PlugIns: ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice: Contents: PlugIns: PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin: Contents: Resources: MetaClasses.plist to use the USB-BT driver. When you're done, the entry should look like this:
3. <key>com.motorola.V710</key>
4. <dict>
5. <key>Identification</key>
6. <dict>
7. <key>com.apple.gmi+gmm</key>
8. <string>Motorola CE, Copyright 2000+Motorola CDMA v710 Phone</string>
9. </dict>
10. <key>InheritsFrom</key>
11. <array>
12. <string>com.motorola.usb-bt.0x22B8/0x4902</string>
13. </array>
14. <key>Services</key>
15. <array>
16. <dict>
17. <key>ServiceName</key>
18. <string>com.apple.model</string>
19. <key>ServiceProperties</key>
20. <dict>
21. <key>ModelName</key>
22. <string>V710</string>
23. <key>PhoneIcon</key>
24. <string>MOTV710.tiff</string>
25. </dict>
26. </dict>
27. </array>
28. </dict>
29. Make sure to remove the V710 device from iSync if you had previously synchronized with a USB cable.?
30. If you had previously tried to pair the V710 via Bluetooth, delete the device from the list of Bluetooth devices. Set your phone to be discoverable and then use the Bluetooth preferences to add the device again. This time the synchronization option should be checked instead of ghosted.?
***
Specifically, this is the line being changed:
OLD
<string>com.motorola.usb.0x22B8/0x2A22</string>
NEW
<string>com.motorola.usb-bt.0x22B8/0x4902</string>

ok, this is killing me because i do not have an existing thing of this..
"Change the existing V710 entry in /Applications: iSync.app: Contents: PlugIns: ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice: Contents: PlugIns: PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin: Contents: Resources: MetaClasses.plist to use the USB-BT driver. "
how do i get there? i am completely lost at this point...when i open the contents of iSync, i see a contents folder, but no plugIns folder...
