Are you using a substitute system font to replace Lucida Grande? Which one?

I know you can do it with Silk, my question is which font are you using that works well with the system, just curious.

There's a couple of threads concerning Silk that deal mainly with what fonts work best and what are some favorites.....that's why I said to search.....

Is he about to reveal his latest (from his Icons thread) ?
I've been trying BlairMdITC, Copperplate, Dev Gothic. None look good IMHO.
My favorite still : Eurostile.

I have used so far
Bank Gothic
Bottix
Century Gothic
Din Neuzeit Grotesk
Flux (current choice)
Futura (one of the only ones ive used that enboldens the application Menu)
of the above I think my favorite was Futura, just because I like the cut of the font and the circlularness of the O. I personally steer clear of serif fonts too as I think they look awful as system fonts, handwritten ones can be disasterous too
notice No Handel Gothic.... I MUST RESIST !!

To be honest, no other font than Lucida Grande looks acceptable to me, and i have to add that Lucida Grande is still FAR from perfect IHMO. Small sizes look inacceptably blurry, the hinting sucks. When switching off smoothing for sizes below (e.g.)10 point the resulting bitmaps suck too - so that's no option.
This is bc. Apple has optimized the Lucida Grande font esp. for the Finder/ X, other stock fonts like Handel Gothic, Helvetica or whatever might look good in certain areas of X while they suck bad in other. It's a miracle to me how can some of you stand the blurry rendering of hacked in (silk'ed) fonts. I guess you're used to blurry fonts...
too bad, unless apple beefes up its sparse font-preferences in X/Finder we have to live with it.

I don't know about you, Smithz, but I can feel myself slowly going blind when working in OS X. Text rendering is worse than OS 9. That's hardly news. What's shocking is that it's far worse than Windows.

Close System Preferences
Open the Terminal
Paste the following, then hit Return: defaults remove com.unsanity.Silk "Font Cache"

That prolly was the best Silk help thread out.. Man You and I (Mostly you) paved the way for the current users of Silk.. Gosh, and having Rosyna helping out to was a sweet bonus.. That was like what 2 or 3 months ago... Lots of awesome tips in that thread for fonts and Silk...
[insert virtual high-five here]
