Hi,

I always hear that the iPhone battery is good for X amount of charges, (1000 if I remember correctly.) I don't really understand what the x amount of charges mean, does it mean after I exceed the x amount, the battery dies? I have my iPhone 3G for over a year, I use my iPhone a lot so the battery doesn't last long, whenever it's possible, at home or in the office, I plug it in and charge it to keep the battery fully charged. But does it mean every time I plug it in, it counts as one charge? If so, I must have exceeded 7000 charges by now and it's still working. Can someone explain this to me? Thanks.

As Apple explains on their battery site, it's cumulative full cycles.

When you hit the rated number of cycles your battery doesn't go dead, it's just expected to have reached a degraded (80% of original capacity) state.
