They appeared when I installed 4.5. I have the Music Store showing in my source pane. Did you have it off?

Ooopsy thought you were talking about an issue that had always been there. I'm running iTunes 4.2. So far. Upgrading later today.

And what's with the 'no free songs without a creditcard?' Apple is no better than these cursed porn sites that require 'free age verification with a major cradit card' bullcrap!

Agreed, man, they cluttered the interface something shocking. It looked very much like the type of thing MS would hove into a music player, just to crowd the interface more. First thing I did was look to turn them off.

Can't you? I got it OK in Oz. Set up your Music Store account with a free Pepsi code (provided by a considerate US friend) and you don't need credit card info IIRC (lie about your address).

I wonder if the iTunes store will ever make it to Oz?

America's neighbour still can't download either! I have been meaning to head south and grab a few Pepsis.... at least until Friday. But if anyone can get their hands on an iTunes gift certificate, you can create an account without a credit card, assuming you use a US addy (such as the address of the Apple Store nearest to the evil empire in Seattle... micro$oft).
Sad that Apple wasted the first anniversary by not giving a few countries the iTunes Store..... Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia

Obviously not, since that has been available since iTunes 1.0. There's a whole thread about it in Software.

On a different note, here's something interesting: I just downloaded the free Foo Fighters song, and in the Get Info window it lists its "FairPlay Version" as "2." My old M4Ps are listed as version "1." So does this mean that the new restrictions (5 registered computers, 7 burns per playlist) only affect new songs? What are the implications of this version change?

Wait... why can't I post songs not in the Music Store??? Even if people can't buy them, they could at least know the names of the songs.
