I'm experiencing a problem where cutting and pasting within the same AppleWorks 5.0.4 document leads to the paste version of the text changing to the Helvetica font.
I have Avant Garde selected as the default font (in the prefs) and want it to remain in Avant Garde once it is pasted.
Can someone explain why this is happening?
Thanks.

I recently noticed this too with AW 5.0.4 and Mac OS 9.0.4.
It's had be stumped thus far... just know that you're not alone!
My half-solution is to make a macro that changes font face and size to the default, so fixing this bug requires hit command-A to select all, and then tapping the F12 key.
Very annoying.

Have you tried trashing the Appleworks preferences file?

Try trashing the Mac OS Preferences and the Finder Preferences. One of these probably sets the default pasting font.
