Today, Mail is not displaying any content for messages I received (this has also happened for some, but not all, older messages). When I view source, the headers and part of the body are displayed, but there's no scroll bar. However, if I drag the corner of the window to expand it and drag it back, the scroll bar appears. When I switch back to the message view, the body is now displayed.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a better solution? The older messages used to display fine until today. I tried rebuilding mailboxes and restoring from a Time Machine backup, but the problem persists.

I moved this to Applications, because questions/issues about Mail are best addressed there.

no solution but similar problem as soon as I uppgraded to Leopard and switched from entourage to mail. Sorted itself out after upgrading to 10.5.1. If you're still on 10.5 I'd recommend this straight away.

I'm using 10.5.1 already, but found that trashing the Mail prefs will fix it. The annoying part of doing that is I have to set up all my e-mail accounts again, even though the mailboxes are already there in ~/Library/Mail, so I reverted to the old prefs until I have more time to mess with it.

Try downloading and reapplying the full "combo" 10.5.1 combo updater.

Apple doesn't have an official "combo" updater, just 10.5.1 Update Installer, but I tried it anyway. It didn't help, so my only option is to trash my Mail prefs and set up all the accounts again.

I switched to GyazMail again (which I keep always for the times when Apple Mail just doesn't work). And I have 10.5.1 and it still happens to the occasional message.

It is very frustrating.

I'm running 10.5.2 and am having the same problem. I have a mess of sig files, rules, and mail accounts, so I would really prefer to not have to toss my prefs. Any ideas on a fix since this was first posted in January? This problem is really, really annoying, and sometimes the message body won't load even if I open the message in a full window.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a good alternative. FWIW, trashing the prefs fixed it for me.

Add the text resize buttons to your toolbar and toggle the size back and forth. You should see the text I think (I used to get this occasionally in Tiger's Mail, but haven't experienced it in Leopard - this used to work then).
