While I'd love to get a g5, my trusty dual 867 MDD G4 is doing just fine. However, I would like to get some more speed out of it.
Are there any g4 processor upgrades for the MDD machines?

Not yet, unfortunately. But I think I read somewhere that GigaDesigns is working on getting upgrades for the MDDs out this year.

I will probably also be interested in upgrading my MDD maybe at the end of this year, although my DP 867 is still live and kickin, I'd like a little boost in speed. My MDD will be 2 yrs old this November.

I am in the exact same position. 2 years old next November. I will add a second hard drive in a few weeks and upgrade my memory to 1 GB. I might be interested in a G5 upgrade if it is not too expensive and fully compatible with upcoming OS X versions

How about score a stock dual 1.42Ghz module?
However, your motherboard FSB speed is 133Mhz, right?

I wouldn't hold your breath for a G5 upgrade as I don't think they will ever happen.
Even if they did happen, due to the bus restriction the benefit would be next to nothing.
If you want a g5, I suspect it will have to be a whole new machine.

That's an interesting idea. Anyone have a clue what the multipliers are on those processors?

I'm not expecting a G5 for an upgrade. A Dual 1.42 upgrade card would be SUPER nice, but I dont know if that would work with the DP 867 board since its 133 bus. I know there was a hack going around that changes the bus from 133 to 167 which overclockes the 867 to 1GHz.
I forgot to mention that I would have to buy all new memory modules to support that bus since my memory is PC2100

A 1.42 is on an 8.5x multiplier. On the same multiplier in a 133MHz board, it would only run at 1.13GHz.

Hi!
It won't be easy to get your hands on one of these, Apple only offers them as a replacement part if you send in a broken one.
I'm also hoping to someday be able to upgrade the cpu of my MDD/1250 (166MHz bus), but I'm not very confident that there will ever be upgrades for this machine, since the target group would be pretty much limited to those with the single cpu/1250MHz machine, and that's probably not very many.
