Hi,

I normally have a lot of junk (open apps) covering up my desktop, and usually click on the Finder in the Dock to get a new finder window.

However, if one's already open, & I want another one, I have to go up and select New Finder Window, or do the cmd-n thing.

Is there any way to make a new finder window just one click away?

Thanks!

Try ShowDesktop... it's free and can be found on VersionTracker.com

Wow - that's what I call fast service!

Actually I have ShowDesktop, and it's great!

But the fact is, I'm lazy. I want to click on something that will open a new finder window each time I click on it (for moving from here to there), then let me get back to whatever I was doing without having to click on them again in the dock.

Yes, it's petty - just thought someone else might be as lazy as me.

Just put a folder or HD in the Dock. Then, you get a new window whenever you click it.

If you want to get really slick, make an Applescript to open that folder. Then you can put it next to the Finder icon in the dock.

Look in the preferences of Show Desktop. I have mine just be a little icon in the menu bar and when you click it, it hides all apps but the Finder and opens a new Finder window.
