What do you think are the most essential PowerBook G4 Accessories? My vote would be:

1. Numeric Keypad
2. External CD ROM Drive
3. External Floppy Drive
4. Backup Drive
5. Portable Scanner
6. Digital Camera
7. Utility Software like Drive X or Norton Utilities

WHAT DO YOU THINK??

Why an external CD-ROM drive? You have a DVD-R/CDROM Burner!!!

Who needs Floppys anyway??

Scanner would be a compromise (a bad one)!

Digital camera makes sense.

My favorit: Three button scrollwheel mouse (cmon Apple: Now we have an OS which supports contextual menues and programmable mousebuttons; give us the mouse most of us want!!)

I mean mobile versions of scanners, but if youre strong enough to lurk around an 3-4 kg stationary Epson-, HP-, etc.-scanner------ive said nothing.

CD-copy: Copy the content of one CD to - for example - the desktop. Then insert a blank one and "burn baby burn". It works as long as youre not trying to mass produce CD copies.

Yes, serves the tilting and improves air circulation/cooling

I've not touched a floppy disk in years. The only things that I've ever got (for a Mac) that had a floppy disk was a SCSI card, and the disk was for PCs - they included a CD for Macs. Most everything made for Macs these days is made with the idea that Macs don't have floppy drives -- also, most software/drivers are too big to fit on floppy disks anyhow... Even if they do include a floppy you can probably just download the drivers from their website. If you're accessing lots of information from PC people or from older computers then maybe a floppy drive ...

For other devices/peripherals I think you must think portable. For me a 3-button mouse is a necessity. A scanner, firewire port, usb port, etc. aren't needed for daily portable use (for me at least).

Thinking about it, if I had to go on a trip this is what I'd want to carry with my laptop:

A nice laptop case that has a soft strap.
A small, portable printer (battery powered or forget it).
An airport card (but I'm not carrying that base around)
A set of backup batteries
Some DVDs
a pro mouse (for comfort really, not needed)
1 or 2 CD-R disks
About 20 sheets of paper (for the printer)
The AC adapters (gotta carry em)
A cellphone that can be used as a wireless modem.
A map of nearby 802.11b hotspots to leach off of (lol).
In a realm beyond site, the sky shines gold, not blue, there the Triforce's might makes mortal dreams come true.

I have the external CD-RW. It's one of those bus powered ones from VST, got it at the Apple store for only 50 bucks after rebate.

Extra Battery

Coolpad

Piccolo drive from Sonnet (dump the floppy, no doubt)

iOpti Jr. optical mouse (mini)

Sleave case that fits into my large case

External 20 gig HD

Added a 32 gig 5400 rpm internal HD

Sony MDR-V6 headphones for the one video game I own, Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

An Apple keyboard for the same reason.

Those and a gig of ram and you'd be set to go

We had contextual menus available in 9 prior to now as well.

I think Podium Pad is better than CoolPad. Unless that's the same thing for you.
It has swivel capability, raised, also good backwards to raise the front rather than the back for standing situations. Although, the new Griffin iCurve looks pretty nice now as well

Number one though for an accessory, would be Applecare Protection Plan. It'll get expensive to repair a Ti after your warranty is expired. What can beat 3 years of service including phone support for hardware, and all the software (OS, iApps, QT).

I agree with Todd, when you are in a mixed environment with older Wintel machines, they have sometimes no burner and then external floppy makes sense
