Beware gamers - I've been running on 1.0 since the summer and the video performance was OK - but this update does improve on that alot- but now it require my CD to work. But worst of all making a CD image in toast doesnt work... just a heads up.

Needing the CD had been required for a couple of updates now. Maybe back around 1.03?

And yeah, kinda stinks that even using a disk image doesn't work. Don't want to keep using the original CD.

How much of an improvement is 1.5? Just wondering. Performance is acceptable on my 17" 1.5 Ghz using version 1.0 and I like running the game without the CD.

10.3.7 made a noticeable difference with my card in terms of performance. However, if you're using 10.3.5 or above you get hardware accelerated lens flares now with Halo 1.5 so you can crank up those flares to max with very little impact to performance. I was playing a bit last night at 1024x768 with 6xFSAA 16xAF and Extreme Lens Flares with my dual 2.5 and Radeon 9800 Pro and everything was great. In previous versions the combination of Extreme Lens Flares and FSAA would drop the framerates to the point of crying.

In a word: MASSIVE. Easily 20-30% speed increase with the same settings using a
17" 1.5GHz PB 1Gb/Radeon 9700M 128Mb and the new Advanced Pixel Shaders pipeline under 10.3.7.

Pitty the 10.3.7 update breaks HomeWorld 2 performance with the same settings (ie, maximum) as 10.3.5 using this GPU. Oh well

According to MacUpdate, there's a 1.5.1 patch which fixes an issue with drop shadows as well as the rendering problem with R200 chipsets (Radeon 8500-9200) and No Shaders.
