Was this taken of a TV-screen with a handheld camera?
Interesting footage nonetheless.

Its strange, if it was a tv screen captured by a camera why would the camera be moving so much?

I think they corrected the camera shake, and that's why those borders are there.

Yep.
The Walled City was NOT the kind of place you wanted to get caught carrying a camera.
Thanks a lot, moonmonkey! This is the first video footage I've ever seen from there.

one thing that went through my head while watching it again was, how could someone on the streets NOT notice a gym bag with a hole cut in the front for a camera and not see the camera?

It was a 200 x 300 meter block of homemade buildings that 50,000 people lived in with no laws, police, tax or government interaction smack bang in the middle of one of the most modern cities in the world.
What's not to like?

I'm currently living about 5mins away from it. I too don't see the fuss about this video. The area wasn't too bad, not as bad as the ghetto in a lot of countries. But it surely doesn't justify the bad and ugly of that part of the city.
The whole area was destroyed about 13 years ago; I was there when it was surrounded by metal fences and eventually demolished.

That might be the case. Should have cropped it though.

Never heard anything about that place until this topic. Fascinating stuff.
Now I get why so many people looked over their shoulder when they realized someone was behind them.

Did you ever go inside in the 70's or 80's?
