Is there some way to assign a label to individual desktops in Lion? I haven't found anything yet... It would also be nice to assign custom backgrounds to individual desktops, as one does in real virtual desktop systems, but I'll settle for labels.

Hi Steve.

I can't speak to labels, but changing the background on individual desktops is fully supported in Lion.

Just enter the space whose background you want to change, right-click on the desktop, and select Change Desktop Background.

Hope this helps!

Applications set to full screen have that name as the label, so I usually have Desktop 1, Safari, Mail and iTunes, and you can give desktops different backgrounds.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.
