I missed the debate, but my close friend and ardent Bernie supporter (who would argue the Republican Party should be abolished) said he came off like a commie agitator.

That actually kinda makes me sad. I like the guy. Webb is a better fit with me from a policy standpoint, but between Sanders and Clinton, I'd pick Sanders in a heartbeat.

I listened to it yesterday. It's my first real exposure to him. He has a really funny voice, but the comments I was seeing were his default voice is yelling. Basically, to me, each response built to a crescendo.

I think he's reminiscent of this guy:


I can understand why people would be turned off by his delivery if they don't care for his politics. To contrast him with Trump, however, he doesn't feel as personal or demeaning.

I've noticed a trend in that established Democratic senators who make a national play can't communicate for shit.

Sanders.
Biden.
Kerry.

I think they don't switch gears from how they operate in the Senate.

I watched the debate and I would say that's overstated. He came off like your "grumpy grandpa" that you know is only telling you the truth but you really aren't trying to hear him because his demeanor is so off-putting.

That's part of Bernie's appearance problem: he has a dandruff problem too. But I feel we need someone who is mad as hell and not going to take it anymore.

It doesn't matter who is elected, it really doesn't. What matters is that the population decides on a witch hunt to rid our political system of corrupt monied interests interested in an oligarchy. What Sanders says is right, but he also says that it's not about him, which is also right. It's going to take years, and his election or the election of any one person is not a magic cure all.

Oh, and this brings forth one of the more surreal moments for me regarding the Dem debates. Watching S3 of House of Cards this year I scoffed when they had only three candidates for their debate, but nodded that it was both a budgetary and story limitation.


...and yet here we are, two months out from the first primary and we're down to three candidates with the possibility of another dropping out yet.

Sanders is the Democratic version of Ron (≠ Rand) Paul: he has no support with the party establishment, and is marginalized by the Democratic Party's power brokers and the media to some degree. I think large swaths of the public see Hillary Clinton's win of the nomination as a forgone conclusion.

(On the Republican side, there is no “Hillary candidate” because the party is much more divided. Otherwise there'd be no way that the two leading the polls would be Donald Trump and Ben Carson. It's a different type of sad.)
