Hi there,
I have a G4 iMac running 10.3.9
As of yesterday I have noticed that the fan/fans are running continually.
Would any one know of a fix to stop this happening?
As always - all knowledge is greatfully received - thank you.

Always the first thing to do is to open Activity Monitor (Utilities folder), organize processes by %CPU, and see what stuck application, using the largest % of the CPU, is causing your fans to run. If it's an app you've started, simply quit or force quit it. If it's in use by the system, you can report back here and we can tell you what might be going on.

See if it quiets down after logging out and logging back in. My wife's iMac does this sometimes--it's usually caused by a Flash object on a web page.

Hi there,
Thanks for the reply ibook_steve,
I've checked with Activity Monitor and the % CPU seems to be OK with nothing out of the ordinary - all apps are running normally with nothing 'stuck' so there is no need to use 'force quit'...
I'll try Macola's advice and get back to you all later. The Cricket season has begun over here and today is the first day of the New Zealand test match, so as you might imagine my attention is focused on Lords Cricket Ground!!
