Beer sponsor of the National Football League Budweiser has introduced the Bud-E Fridge. The new offering is a smart home beer fridge that gives consumers the ability to view real-time information from their fridge, ranging from the number of beer cans and bottles in it, to when the optimal temperature is reached for them, from anywhere that they have access to a mobile device.

Developed by Budweiser, Buzz Connect, and Linq IQ, the unit and its accompanying smartphone app (available for both Apple and Android devices) allows users to enter sports teams so that the fridge can keep them up-to-date on when games are approaching. When games are nearing, the Bud-E Fridge lets them know if their game day supply needs replenishing. As fans re-stock the fridge, which has a 78-beer capacity, the fridge stock level updates in real-time. A countdown timer indicates when the contained beverages will reach the optimal 32F serving temperature.

The unit also provides consumers with alerts of when it is running low on beer, through the smartphone app. In addition to these alerts, when the fridge is running low, the mobile app can integrate with beer-delivery service Saucey, allowing consumers to order for home delivery in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

The Bud-E Fridge is only available for purchase by California residents at this time. The regular price of the unit is $600, with a sale for $300 currently running. MacNN has emailed for information on possible expansion of the device, and will update this post with any further information.

"Did you say you have beer?"

"We have 42 Bud Lights."

"Soooo, you DON'T have any beer?"
