In the continuing series of "What's on your desktop (mouse pad, etc)."

Currently, I use the exclamation "TIMMY!" from South Park that I grabbed from http://www.beef-cake.com

It can be a bit annoying when I switch TCP or Location settings, but it really brightens a meeting, let me tell you.....

I am stupidest when I try to be funny.

I use the sound a Mappy machine generates when you put a quarter in it. I alternate that with the sound a DigDug generates when you put a quarter in it.

Um... kinda off topic, but has anyone played that Squirrel fighting game? (cant recall the name right now).. anyway, I used Agent Audio to replace my regular ICQ 'uhoh' with a squirrel noise (Whab-baba-du- DA DUP!)

only it doesnt soundlike doo wop like it just did when I typed it. Heh.

I like the new ones that come with OS9... submarine.

I don't download new sounds too often, they get annoying... case in point, I put a Krusty the Clown sound in my sister's startup items folder--he says "Hey kids, whahhahaha!" It bugs her, but I haven't told her how to get rid of it... <evil grin>

I use the "glass" sound form OS 9, mostly because it sounds decent on my iBook's wimpy speaker.

Me like Andi's choice...
I either use Purr or Submarine. Both sounds really good with my 45W woofer.
G4/450, T-bird 1.05GHz, iBook 500, iBook 233...4 different machines, 4 different OSes...(9, 2k, X.1, YDL2.2 respectively) PiA to maintain...

Cash, that game is Squirrel Combat (or Kombat).

I use Simple Beep. Or Indigo or Sosumi... I usually have it on mute, anyway.

Voltage - short, takes little room, and its a good sound for when something is wrong. Its a rough sound so it gets your attention.
I delete all the others from my System.

I know what you mean Andi. Currently I have ChuToy as my alert sound. It drives my dog completely nuts! I'm going to give "Timmy!" a try and see how well my dog takes to that. Thanks for the link scotti.

Cash - the game you're looking for is called Squirrel Kombat. You can find it at Download.com

Okay, I admit! about thirty times a day HAL (from 2001) booms at me "Human Error".

(actually, since hearing it on my computer, several of my friend's are running HAL on their machines as well)

Actually, I like "Who killed Bob?" It's a comparatively large file that I found on the net awhile back. If you don't know, Bob was to be the ultimate Windows Assistant, but somebody killed him. For me, it used to be a way to laugh off my frustrations with a jerk I worked for. His name?? You guessed it!

yoyo:

The reason she can't get rid of the noise in her startup folder, is that the overlying GirlOS renders the startup folder inaccessible, and therefore obselete.

For the longest time, I had Jay from Mallrats going "snoochie boochie noochies," now for the last year or so I've had the Logjam sound from OS 9...I just kinda like the chainsaw sound, and when someone else is at the computer and the volume is way up it scares the crap outta them!

Hey denim, where did you dld those video game sound clips from?

I get sick of my alert sound (not that I hear it very often) so I change it - one of the funniest I have is an old Irish guy saying "Oooh you really screwed that one up, didn'tcha now" - otherwise I use Star Trek computer sounds.

I'd be happy to email the Irish guy to anyone who wants it

I made them. I tend to make my own sounds, though I haven't done many recently.

I would like to do a better version of my Mappy sound, but I haven't figured out how yet. It's not like the board has an audio-out jack.

The classic "Wild Eep!" Simple yet elegant.

Of course the dog comes running if I have ChuToy turned on. (So I often turn it on...

I've posted some beeps at ftp://ftp.mindspring.com/users/hshubs/snds . The ones named "Mappy" and "DigDug" are the ones I was talking about earlier, though I've inserted a few others which may be of interest. They're MacBinary'd System 7 sound files.
