LOL
funny thing is, more internet software won't work. It's SOO easy to get around those firewalls... ooh, don't know about mac software, on 2nd thought, but on the PC's in HS, it was a piece of cake!

Sheesh, as any good RIAA and MPAA people know, the key to behaviour modification is re-education.

Isn't that why Disney used Jackster to educate people about the evils of downloading music?
If this post is in the Lounge forum, it is likely to be my own opinion, and not representative of the position of MacNN.com.

Actually, Apple ought to look at marketing this in a positive way. Everyone knows that porn can make or break a platform, just look at VHS. So come on Apple, "Think Horny?" "DeFlower Power..." Get that add agency working for you. Swap Goldblum for, say, Ron Jeremy, and watch those iMacs fly off the shelves!

Silly henrico county people. As Scott Adams once said in Dilbert:
"Do you honestly expect yourenginerring skills to be on par with young hormones?"
Actual conversation between UCLA and Stanford during a login on early Internet - U: I'm going to type an L! Did you get an L? S: I got one-one-four. L! U:Did you get the O? S: One-one-seven. U: <types G> S: The computer just crashed.

As funny as this is, you just *know* someone will pick up the story and retell it with some stupid slant like "Children are using Macs for porn! Macs are bad!"

Yeah I agree there. I'm just waiting for it all to "blamed" on Apple and the Macintosh

It's really an issue of appropriate behavior IMHO

It's probably virtually impossible to stop kids from downloading porn. I really think the issue needs to be addressed as per "where" and "when" it's least appropriate.

I just think it's most important to educate them that the school isn't the "place" for that sort of thing. There's probably really no controlling a kid downloading it at home in privacy. But at least in such a situation it is being kept "private".

I mean I'd be embarrassed as all hell if I was cought downloading porn at school or at work. That's what keeps me from even thinking about it.

At home? Bring it on!!!!!

Speaking of education, I've learned something from this story, prOn is apparently a recognised slang word. Upon seeing the title of this thread I thought, "That can't be right." So I pasted it into OmniDictionary which returned this:

<STRONG>
pron

&lt;jargon&gt; (Or "pr0n") B1FF-speak for pornography. Often seen
on IRC in such desperate cries for help as "I WNAT
PRON!!!!!"

(1997-09-14)
</STRONG>
prOn. Will the wonders of the computer age ever cease?

Cheers!

I saw "pr0n" in the "Greatest Inventions" thread, so I copied it. I was hoping I was using it correctly

Gosh I'm old; where's my VH1?
I am stupidest when I try to be funny.

iPorn!!!

i was actually thinking the other day about how all the internet companys that try and sell actual products eventually go belly up regardless of how "good" of an idea it is. even amazon.com has had some serious financial troubles. the answer?

every company needs a porn division to help support its more "legitimate products". apple could have iPorn. microsoft would soon after come out with Porn XXXP (id love to see ballmer announcing this one). linux is free, but linuxxx would soon be available just to keep competitive. etc etc.
