According to the Calculator that came with my install of OS X (but is apparently missing from yours ), it's 1210.286380478205 seconds, or just over twenty minutes.

Ummm...I don't even know how to convert this notation to "real" numbers via the calculator.

switch the calculator into scientific mode. There's an e^x button.

(That said, I never did much with the e constant, and it's entirely possible that I completely messed that up, what with it being over ten years ago...</disclaimer>)

3*10^6 seconds = 3 000 000 seconds
= 50 000 minutes
= 833 1/3 hours
= 34 13/18 days

"e6" means *10^6?

I thought it referred to the constant e.

Usually it is, but in this context it is being used as a shorthand for scientific notation.
You can easily see this by making the calculator in OS X display a large enough number (eg. typing in 100 and press the '10^x' button gives 1e+100).

Using the OS X calculator and type:

3,000,000,001 * 1,000,000,000

The calculator can't handle so many zeros, so it uses scientific notation. e is just the exponent in base 10.
