Sometime later this summer I am moving to Las Vegas as the wife is being transferred there. My question, what are my options for good broadband?

Having tried to look this up myself (we have a house there and have been planning to move there for about a year now but have been too busy with work and thus um yeah) -- these are your options:
Cox is the cable company in Las Vegas, and they're evil. They've been known to block outgoing ports, have strict quotas, etc.. but to the average home user it's just fine.
Sprint is in charge of the majority of the phone system. While this almost indirectly means no DSL, the few places that can get it you will either pay an arm and a leg for, or have lousy service.
IMHO the best thing you can do is head to dslreports.com and look through the forums, something I haven't done in a long while. If you do find anything good be sure to let me know because I've been keeping an eye on this myself!!
Ohhhh one more thing: There are a few wifi ISPs in Las Vegas.. generally the way that works is like having a satellite dish but of course, it's local instead of in the sky.. they put a square antenna on your roof/outside of house and it plugs into an ethernet box.
One last piece of advice: If you're moving down/up there be careful where you buy a house. North Las Vegas is not only a bit shady of an area but it floods during the late summer when the storm season comes.
More info for the ISPs is at:
http://tinyurl.com/2fzks (thanks tinyurl.. the DSLR address was sooooo long because it covers about 20 zipcodes, )
If you have any other questions feel free to ask
edits: After taking a quick read down that page I notice that FINALLY other DSL companies are taking up turf in the area... it's about time!!

Las Vegas!! I love Vegas! Don't worry about the broadband thing. Just take my advice: take a bunch of ones and hit the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Find the Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze dollar slot machines. Insert ones. Pull handle. WIN!!!

That's perhaps the stupidest thing I've heard all day. Do you know the chances of actually WINNING at a slot machine?
Just get out the nickels. You play all day, still don't win much, but your wallet doesn't get as light so quickly.

That is why I avoid Las Vegas. Gambling has ruined a lot of lives. Hopefully you can and will avoid that part of life.

The odds of winning and winning big are better on the dollar slots than they are anywhere else. My wife and I had 3 of those Purple Haze dollar slots paying out 30, 40, 50 dollar winnings almost constantly for about 30 minutes one day. We walked away with about 1500 or so.

I hate to be the party pooper here, but I think Mr Gorilla and his wife will be going three to get some work first, and having said that, Las Vegas is a BIG city -- there's always some sort of job available (even off the strip )..
I suppose it's nice and all to know where to blow money or goof off but that stuff can be taken care of later, right?
Best of luck to yas

Thanks for the input, all. I appreciate it. The Mrs. has a job already out there. I just need to find one.

Dude that's so weird, I'm moving to Vegas at the end of this month. Small world, huh? I'm probably going to work at a hotel till I get out of grad school. At the hotel my uncle works at the valets make $60-70k/year! Just for parking cars! I can't wait.
